FUNCTIONS

The objects of the Association are :-

To educate the public irrespective of caste and creed :

  1. By promoting the development of newspapers/periodicals particularly, Indian Languages;

  2. By organizing courses in journalism, particularly those relating to management, and production of newspapers/periodicals;

  3. By providing facilities for exchange of information and opinion of interest to newspapers/periodicals;

  4. By co-operating with educational and research institutions, and other organizations in the collection and exchange of information, pertaining to newspapers/periodicals;

  5. By establishing library, and building up a collection of books, periodicals and papers, films and other audiovisual aids on the newspaper industry, and by arranging for their distribution;

  6. By undertaking studies, surveys and research projects;

  7. By circulating pamphlets, research papers and other literature, pertaining to journalism to the members.


To achieve the above objectives it will be open to the Association, to do all or any of the following :

  1. To co-operate with other newspaper associations in India, with the intention of furthering the objectives of the Association, and with this in view, to affiliate groups and bodies, also by getting itself affiliated to any other national and/or international bodies, if considered necessary.

  2. To further the case of the development of newspapers/periodicals by making representations, and by holding consultations with Union and State Government, and other bodies;

  3. To conduct, or undertake to conduct, and participate in national and international exhibitions;

  4. To enter into any arrangement with any Government or authority supreme, municipal, local or otherwise that may seem conducive to the Association's objects, or any of them, and to obtain from any such Government or authority, all rights, concessions and privileges, which the Association may think it desirable to obtain and to carry out, exercise and comply with any such arrangements, rights, privileges and concessions.
